MORE THAN A NEPHILIM
A few weeks ago I saw an advert for the Black Sabbath concert
at Hammersmith Odeon announcing that the special guests were going to
be the Fields Of The Nephilim (who?). It was a classic double-take
situation, I mean, what's this crappy Goth band doing supporting a heavy
rock group at Hammersmith? Surely there are plenty of good rock bands
around who could do the job?
So, therefore, I was pleased to read in your Shrapnel column
that these Nephilim bozos have decided to pull
out, leaving the way clear for Chrome Molly. Having
the Fields Of The Nephilim as support to Sabbath was nearly as stupid as
Motorhead having as special guests Gaye Bykers On Acid and Budgie being
supported by the Vibrators (who?).
Black Sabbath and the Fields Of The Nephilim (stupid name) are hardly a
good mix; was it a ploy to attract a wider cross section of the public?
Bah! I think it was a big piss take!
