FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM: WAITING FOR CTHULU...
by Dave Dickson

Back in the days when 'mountain magic heavy hung' and all that stuff, when the Elder Gods walked the Earth, one of the darkest, most evil, most brutal was CTHULHU. According to late horror author H.P. Lovecraft, Cthulhu still lies waiting to be recalled across the dimensional wall... by who? The Nephilim perhaps?

The Nephilim's second album (reviewed last issue) is something of a tour-de-force, delving into the mysteries of the occult as perceived by both Lovecraft and the century's leading magickian, Aleister Crowley. Here the Nephilim (l-r (in photo): Carl McCoy, Nod Wright, Tony Pettit, Peter Yates, Paul Wright) invoke the spirit of Cthulhu from the dark and fetid depths of the English Channel.

The Elder Gods were obviously with the band, their recently completed UK tour being their most successful to date, with the new album riding high in the charts. Sometimes the old gods are still the best.

Waiting For Cthulhu... but for the Nephilim the waiting is over. Their time has arrived.
